Lately the most asked for snack in our home has been popcorn. I remember growing up my mom would make popcorn on the stovetop. We didn't have a microwave back then. It was one of our favourite snacks as kids. When I make popcorn, I usually season it simply with some oil and salt. Once in awhile when I make popcorn, I will use butter instead of oil for a treat.
On a recent trip to the mall, we picked up a bag of flavoured popcorn and my boys loved it. So I thought why don't we try to make flavoured popcorn at home. I decided to make a spicy version. I also added some Nutritional Yeast to give it a bit of a cheezy taste. My boys loved this! We will be making a lot of this once school starts for an after school snack!
I used Gay Lea Spreadables Butter to make my popcorn. I have been using this butter ever since Gay Lea introduced it in the market. I love how easily it spreads. The addition of unsaturated canola oil is what makes it spreadable meaning you don't have to wait a long time like traditional butter to get it soft enough to spread. Gay Lea Spreadables Butter has no preservatives and is a source of Omega-3. It comes in Regular, Light and Cinnamon Brown Sugar.
