Basmati Rice with Raisins and Walnuts using Minute Rice Ready To Serve Cups {Giveaway}

I can't believe school will be starting next week.  The summer just flew by!  With school resuming, we will be back to our regular busy life!  Minute Rice® has a new product to help make these days a little easier with Minute Rice® Ready to Serve (RTS) Cups.

The rice in these cups is already cooked.  All you have to do is take the seal off and microwave for 1 minute.  Minute Rice® RTS Cups are available in 6 varieties.  We were not able to try any of the flavoured varieties because they contain gelatin.  We tried out the Basmati Rice and Whole Grain Brown Rice.  We found the Ready To Serve Cups to be great for controlling portion size.

When I heard about Minute Rice® RTS Cups I immediately thought of lunch!  This would be great to accompany some leftovers!  My husband has been taking them for lunch and loves the convenience.  I liked enjoying mine with some leftover Masoor ki Daal for some classic Indian comfort food....Daal Chawal.  We found the Whole Grain Brown Rice to not be as soft as we would like when following the cooking instructions.  So we drizzled in some water and microwaved it.  It turned out just to our liking!

The RTS Cups also came in handy when one of my boys requests rice with their dinner just when we are about to sit down to eat.  If your kids are old enough to use a microwave, this would be very convenient to get them to make their own meals.

I tried Minute Rice®'s recipe for Basmati Rice with Raisins and Cashews.  The recipe was on the inside of the package.  I didn't have cashews so I used walnuts instead.  It literally took 5 minutes to make and it was great for a quick snack.

Now for the giveaway!  Minute Rice®  is giving one Chocolate & Chillies reader three cases (48 cups) of Minute Rice® RTS Cups.  As the flavoured varieties contain gelatin, the prize will only contain Basmati Rice and Whole Grain Brown Rice.  This giveaway is open to Canadian residents only (excluding Quebec).  Entrants can enter on multiple Minute Rice® online contests but can only win one prize.  Please use the Rafflecopter below to enter.

  1. I would use these for everything from side dishes to making fried rice! My dad loves these. He's 74 and never really had to cook his whole life so these are very convenient for him!

  3. I love rice and I would love to use these for my dinners at work. I only get a quick 15 minute break, so I always need to bring easy, fast meals. I would pair this up with leftovers, put my butter chicken sauce on top, etc. and have a delicious meal in a short time - perfect! They would also be great at home for my little one - for her lunches I wouldn't make a big pot of rice, but she loves rice so these would be a great little portion for her and I to share (she's just a baby, so she wouldn't eat that much and I would eat what she didn't). For her I would probably serve them plain, as a side to whatever else she is nibbling on.
