Hyderabadi Shrimp Curry {#EidEats2018}
Mummy's Indian Spiced Shrimp BBQ'd
My mom has been making this recipe for as long as I can remember. She fries the shrimp but I thought this would be great on the barbeque! It's very quick to make. We used a wok on the grill to make these. You can also put them on skewers. If you would like to fry them instead, in a non-stick skillet heat a couple of tablespoons of oil and fry with the addition of 2-3 whole green chillies.
Spicy Orange Garlic Shrimp
I have a problem...I make all these recipes with flavors that I am not used too and then when I taste it I'm expecting the traditional flavors I always have and am disappointed..until I get over it. Like when I made the Lemon Baked Pasta...I have always made tomato based sauces for my pasta. So when I bit into the Lemon Baked Pasta I was expecting tomato..I know...it doesn't make sense. Again when I made this shrimp dish I wasn't expecting the orange flavor even though I put the orange juice in. After I got over my sub-conscious expectations I really started to like this.
This recipe uses Old Bay Seasoning. This can be a little tough to find in Canada. I found mine at Longo's in the seafood section. This is a really quick dish to put together. My main change was to reduce the butter and replace it with oil.

Vietnamese Spring Rolls
When I was working for a consulting company my friend Julie and I would love to go out to eat. We would usually go out for Dim Sum but one time we went to a Vietnamese restaurant where I had these spring rolls for the first time.
These spring rolls are so light and refreshing. I hadn't had them since that first time and then when I got married my husband and I went to Ottawa for a weekend. We had dinner in a Vietnamese restaurant one night and ordered these spring rolls. My husband loved them. They are so simple and easy to make. With a few tips from Julie, I started to make them at home. I haven`t made these for awhile. A couple of weeks ago I found Brown Rice Vermicelli noodles at Longos and thought about those spring rolls I used to make. I love how the noodles are made from brown rice...add some fiber to the meal.

Chicken with Shrimp Sauce
Every time I make this dish I always think of my brother. I think he would really enjoy it....one day I'm going to make it for him. I have this file on my computer that's labeled "Red Lobster Recipes". I don't remember where I got it from but this recipe was in there. I've also seen it on numerous other websites so I don't know who the original author is. I've posted the link from AllRecipes.com which has the original recipe. My main changes were to increase the garlic and onion. I salt and peppered the chicken breasts. I also added salt and red chilli flakes to the sauce. I used lemon juice instead of lime juice and left out the rosemary, reduced the butter and added oil. I used frozen raw shrimp and much more than the recipe calls for. This dish is very simple to make. I've read some reviews where people thought that 1/2 cup of flour is way too much and didn't like the consistency. I like my sauce thick but I did end up added water to thin my sauce. The sauce has a slight sour taste which I liked.
Spicy Egg Noodles with Shrimp
I made these egg noodles and my son loved them. The next day he was complaining that I haven't made them for a long time. So I've been wanting to make them for awhile but I haven't been able to find broad egg noodles. I could only find extra broad which I think is too wide. So this week I found some and decided I would make these noodles. I make my own zeera dhania (cumin coriander) powder and keep it in my pantry. I used a 1.5 dhania : 1 zeera ratio. I dry roast the spices and then grind them up. This is turned out really spicy. I used 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper. Next time I would reduce it to 1/4 tsp. Less Shan Masala Seekh Kabob can also be added to reduce the spiciness. This Masala pack is not on the website but you should be able find it in your Indian grocery store.
